Southeast Asian Studies Program
Call for Applications
CKS is seeking applicants for an academic training program for a period of 3 months from September to November 2011 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The program will take the form of intensive lectures and seminars focusing on core academic skills in the context of a Southeast Asian syllabus. Topics to be covered include:

1. Contemporary Southeast Asia: history, politic and economics;
2. Cultures and Identities in the Southeast Asian context;
3. Religious practices in Southeast Asia;
4. ‘Rural’ and ‘urban’ Studies: Local history in a regional perspective;
5. Cambodia/Southeast Asia at the Margins: Minorities Groups and Borderlines;
6. Modern history of mainland Southeast Asia;
7. Cultural construction of politics in mainland Southeast Asia;
8. Economics and Development in Southeast Asian contexts.
A small group of participants will be selected through a competitive process. Applicants should be Cambodian nationals who are currently employed as university faculty staff or individuals who are interested in furthering an academic career in Cambodia. Previous participants will not be eligible for a place on the program.
Applicants are expected to have the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant social science discipline.
- TOEFL score of 400 and above or equivalent.
- Experience of teaching and research at the university level.
